Amma's recipe for Chicken leg pieces

So this has to be the easiest recipe ever! And the results are oh so Yummy!
There are times when you want something light yet delicious and don't really want to put in too much effort or maybe you just don't have the time to put in the effort and need to feed some real hungry mouths or guests for that matter :D Well for all those times and many more, here is a quick easy recipe from our mom:
                                                               Pic Credits: Amna
Ingredients:

  1. Chicken pieces with bone (legs, thighs etc)- 6
  2. Soya Sauce                                                 1 tbsp
  3. Vinegar                                                       1 tbsp
  4. Yogurt                                                         2 tbsp
  5. Salt                                                              1/2 tsp
  6. Black pepper                                                1 tsp
  7. Oil (optional)                                                1 tbsp

Method:

  1. Simply add all ingredients to a pot, cover with a lid and cook on slow heat.
  2. check after 10 minutes.  you can either shake the pan gently or use a spoon/spatula to change the sides of the chicken pieces so that it cooks well on all sides.
  3. Check with fork after 15-20 minutes to see if chicken is done. at this stage if you feel that the gravy is too liquidy, uncover the pot and cook on medium heat.
  4. Turn off stove when gravy is of required thickness. Serve hot with favourite sauce or french fries! Yum! :)

Crumble Cake

Recipe level: Easy
Assembly time: 10 minutes maximum
Bake time : 1 hour

So I loveeee Desserts which is quite clear by all the fat i have gained...God I need to reduce!
get back to your point, don't loose direction!
Yes, so desserts/ Meetha is my weakness. I love making them and i love gobbling them down as well! so one easy peasy recipe that I am going to share here is called the Crumble Cake.
Its quick, all you have to do is assemble in an oven safe dish and bake. serve hot with icecream for best results. i usually put it in the oven while my guests are having dinner so that dessert is served after a bit of a break. serving it with doodh patti is another favourite :)

Unfortunately there is some issue with the card reader and i haven't been able to transfer pictures or i would have loved to share them with you. until then trust my word? :D

lets get started with the recipe:

Ingredients:

  1. 1 yellow cake mix box (any brand, i usually get pillsbury)
  2. 1 tin mixed berries ( i pick up the mixed berry pie filling)
  3. 1 tin/can Pineapple chunks
  4. 8 tbsp butter
  5. 1 cup brown sugar
  6. coconut flakes (optional)
  7. butter for tray or non stick spray

Method:

1. Take an oven safe dish. I use my pyrex dishes. spray it with oil, melted butter or nonstick product, whichever is available at home.

2. spread the berries as the first layer
3. add the pineapple chunks on top.
4. sprinkle coconut flakes as desired.
5. pour the yellow cake mix on top of these layers.
6. use your hands to sprinkle brown sugar on the yellow powder.
7. take 1 tbsp of butter (do not melt) and place it randomly on top. (The dish will not entirely be covered but the butter will melt in the oven so don't worry.)
8. spray oil ( i have olive oil) on top and the dish is ready for the oven.
9. bake the dish at 350 for one hour.
10. serve hot with vanilla icecream and chai :)

Tip: The cans and mixtures are usually a lot and i have a medium sized pyrex dish so i use the remainder of products to make layers in another oven safe dish and freeze it for use on some other day :)

Disclaimer: This is not my recipe, i am only sharing a recipe i saw online and it actually works.

Desi Pakvan- Let's get Started! :)

Hi everyone!
This is Hadia Khurram typing in the first post for the desi pakvan blog :)
My sister and I both live abroad and so far away from Amma (mom) and cooking wasn't exactly my forte. I had always decided that the internet would be enough guidance for cooking after marriage and strictly kept out of the kitchen or reach of my mother :D I did cook sometimes, when i wanted to try something new that mom was not too interested in cooking; mostly pastas.

After getting married I realized recipes were not exactly enough, practice is required indeed. Moreover not every recipe works, so through trial and error and the help of family recipes, i have managed to become confident about a few of my recipes. I have been married for a year (just celebrated our anniversary this month...Yaiii! ) but my sister has slightly more experience under hand.

Let me introduce you all to the second blogger; the sister; Amna! shes a mom of one cute little Diva, a career oriented lady and some one who loves short recipes that give tasty results. This blog is her master mind.

Here we hope to share all recipes that we have tried and tested and can help any new bee to try out her skills in the kitchen and impress family and friends or just bring delight to her own taste buds for that matter!

None of the recipes I know are my own creations- so I will only be sharing recipes i learnt online or live from Amma or Phupho (Paternal Aunt) so that a damsel in distress somewhere can  find her way through the horrors of kitchen land. so let's get started!!! kuch meetha hau jai?
